Position Overview:
Atrium Health Wilkes Regional Medical Center in North Wilkesboro, NC, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Full-Time Total Joint Surgeon with a focus on hip and knee procedures to join our growing orthopedic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a well-established department with a collaborative environment, where the primary focus is on hip and knee replacements. A full-time Sports Medicine Surgeon is already in place, handling shoulder surgeries, which allows the Total Joint Surgeon to focus exclusively on hip and knee cases.
The ideal candidate will have experience in performing a wide range of joint replacement surgeries, including primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasties, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert care in the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of hip and knee conditions, including osteoarthritis, fractures, deformities, and other musculoskeletal disorders.
Perform primary and revision total hip and knee arthroplasties, partial joint replacements, and other related procedures.
Collaborate with other orthopedic surgeons, including a dedicated sports medicine surgeon handling shoulder cases, to provide comprehensive care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
Conduct preoperative evaluations, discuss treatment options, and provide postoperative care and follow-up.
Manage and optimize patient outcomes by utilizing evidence-based practices and staying current on advancements in joint replacement technology and techniques.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
Provide education and support to patients, explaining procedures, recovery expectations, and rehabilitation.
Participate in hospital and department initiatives, including quality improvement efforts and continuing medical education (CME).
Potential for involvement in teaching, mentoring, and collaborating with medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
Work Schedule:
Full-time position with a balanced schedule of clinic and surgery days.
Primary focus on hip and knee procedures, with a collaborative team approach to other orthopedic specialties.
Shared call coverage with orthopedic team, providing additional opportunities for professional development and learning.
Required Qualifications:
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery, with a focus on total joint surgery
Fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction, Total Joint Surgery, or a similar specialty preferred
Current, unrestricted medical license in North Carolina, or eligibility to obtain one
Extensive experience in total hip and knee arthroplasty, including both primary and revision procedures
Strong surgical skills and expertise in advanced joint replacement techniques
Commitment to patient-centered care and excellent communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Interest in pursuing innovative approaches to joint replacement surgery and exploring new technologies
