Metro Florida Private GI Practice

CLEARWATER, FL

Job Description

The Organization

This private practice, Gastro Florida, is the third-largest gastroenterology group in Florida, with 55 providers across 20 locations. They are independently owned (not private equity) and hold a near-monopoly in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, aside from Tampa General's employed physicians. Each location typically hosts 3–6 providers, but some are currently understaffed due to recent relocations within the company.

The group is dynamic, with an average provider age of 37 years, and boasts robust in-house services, including their own pharmacy, anesthesia, pathology (with FibroScan labs), and other ancillary services. Their immediate need is for two providers, with plans to recruit 6–7 more in the near term.

The Opportunity

The hiring division, Advanced Digestive, is based in Clearwater, Florida, a component of Gastro Florida and founded by Dr. Umesh Choudhury, one of the first to leave academia to start this private practice. They are seeking gastroenterologists to perform general GI, with opportunities for ERCP and advanced procedures.
Advanced Digestive is strategically located near top-tier BayCare hospitals and offers two offices:

• Clearwater Clinic (Myrtle Ave): Google Maps Link
• Oldsmar Clinic (Curlew Rd): Google Maps Link

Each location typically consists of a physician, an APP, and two MAs. Housing is conveniently located just 15–20 minutes from the office, with proximity to Clearwater Beach and other highly desirable areas.

Compensation and Partnership

• Financial Model: Competitive base salary plus productivity from day one at an RVU rate of $52/RVU, with overhead at approximately 50%.
• Partnership: Track available within 12–18 months, based on collegiality, work ethic, production, quality, and timeliness.
• Partnership Benefits:
o Buy-in opportunities for two surgical centers (USPI and SCA-managed).
o Revenue sharing from ancillary services, pathology, and anesthesiology businesses.
• Academic Support: While teaching is not required, academic pursuits and maintaining state-of-the-art knowledge are encouraged.

Why Join?

• High Demand: Current patient demand results in scheduling backlogs of several months. The team’s goal is to reduce this to a 3-month maximum, ensuring ample patient volume without internal competition.
• Mentorship: Ideal for recent graduates, with access to exceptional mentors, including former academic faculty members.
• Team Environment: Collaborative culture with plenty of work to go around, eliminating competition among colleagues.

This opportunity provides a perfect blend of clinical excellence, financial growth, and work-life balance in one of Florida’s most desirable areas.
